We have looked at letting go of our disabling judgments, which are thoughts or beliefs. Emotions are different beasts. We can’t just ‘let go’ of an emotion like we can a thought. (Unless we have been learning to quell our emotions through years of meditation. Few of us have done that.) Nor can we replace one emotion with another (although the happiness gurus are adept at asking us to do just that.) This section looks at realistic ways to deal with our unwanted emotions.
